Communications and AI tooling for companies too small to have a department for either.
Fieldnote is my consulting practice, based in Gothenburg. I work with founder-led companies and small teams, where communications, marketing operations and AI adoption are everybody's job and nobody's role.
Most of that work starts the same way. I sit with the people doing the work, listen, and record what is actually happening before I propose anything.
Working out what you stand for, what to say about it, and who needs to hear it. Positioning, messaging, and a plan for getting it in front of people.
Useful when you can explain what you do to a colleague but not to a stranger.
Website copy, content, scripts, case studies, award submissions — and the things everyone agrees matter and nobody has time to write properly.
Claude skills and agents that take on real parts of your business development, marketing and sales work: research, drafting, qualification, follow-up. Built to support the platforms you already use.
I'm Joe Collings. I've spent my career in communications — most of it in Australia, in government, defence and industry, before moving to Gothenburg.
That has meant national recruitment campaigns, and messaging for organisations under constant public scrutiny. It has also meant building brands and content from nothing, and the ordinary daily work of running communications for organisations large and small.
I come at problems with words and process rather than with code. These days that increasingly means building AI tools for commercial teams.
